After taking a month and a half to build out the original store and over two years to accumulate all of the furnishings, we decided to test the limits to buildout and open the PVD location in less than 10 days! A recap in the form of words and photographs capturing that process.
We’re bringing things full circle - almost exactly two years ago we opened up SOSICO. Space in West Warwick, RI; home to the brand and other creative entities. In the last two years, we’ve hosted tons of different types of events and gained our first experience with running a brick and mortar location!
The final stop of The Helping Hands Tour brought us to White Rock skatepark in Westerly, RI. We generated another 57 canned goods at this jam bringing the total canned goods to 220 to close out the tour! A huge thanks to The Collective PVD for partnering up with us to throw this contest series / canned good drive together. Another big thank you to all of our supporters as well as everyone who came out to shred!
The second jam at West Warwick’s Riverpoint Skatepark was a great success like Providence! We generated a total of 70 canned goods at this jam, and 93 at the previous (PVD) bringing the total canned goods to 163! A huge thanks to The Collective PVD for partnering up with us to throw this contest series / canned good drive together. Another big thank you to all of our supporters as well as everyone who came out to shred!
Blass 89 joins us from Yonkers, New York for a session prior to the final closing of our West Warwick flagship store! He talks with host, Chris Lopes of Bafustago, about his trials and tribulations in life and how music helped make sense of it all. Zoink Zulag and the Galactic Shag joins us at the SOSICO. Flagship store for a session that's out of this world. The group, based out of Roswell, NM (or area 50-Fun) combines a blend of cosmic sounds while in full costume / character.
This May - right around the 2 year mark of obtaining the keys to our first flagship / brick and mortar shop, we will inevitably (and sadly) be closing it. It is the end of an era and the closing of one of our greatest chapters.
The first jam at Providence Skatepark was a great success! A huge thanks to The Collective PVD for partnering up with us to throw this contest series / canned good drive together. Another big thank you to all of our supporters as well as everyone who came out to shred!
In our 9th installment of Behind the Brand we give you an in-depth look of the production behind Providence rapper Knellz’s SOSICO. Session hosted in collaboration with Bafustago. Also included is a recap of Supply PVD at the Hope Artiste Village and some unexpected life advice in the midst of a surprise visit to Rhode Island from New York’s own Ace Sinatra.
In our longest session to date, Rhode Island based artist Jesse The Tree, accompanied by four piece band, The Tree People, graced us with an in depth interview and simultaneous (impromptu) game of a "dress up" in which even our host, Chris Lopes got into character! The good vibes kept rolling as Jesse unveiled a delicately intimate acoustic performance, of which included unreleased song, “Blue Window”.
Providence based rapper Knellz came through to the shop and sat down with our host, Chris Lopes of Bafustago to talk about an unexpected venture in modeling, the creative vision behind the music video for "Talk Facts", and the process of deconstructing a beat to choose between rapping or signing. After the interview Knellz set up with a small band to perform a raw acoustic set which includes unreleased song, "Friend or Foe".
